Collections and Archives
The Center for Creative Photography holds more archives and individual works by 20th-century North American photographers than any other museum in the nation. These holdings include a research collection featuring the archives of over 60 photographers—Ansel Adams, Lola Alvarez Bravo, Richard Avedon, Louise Dahl-Wolfe, W. Eugene Smith, and Edward Weston among them. Archives include photographs, negatives, albums, work prints, manuscripts, audio-visual material, contact sheets, correspondence and memorabilia. CCP’s art collection totals more than 60,000 works by 2,000 photographers. View selections from the collection or lists of archives, photographs, and artists online.

Individuals or groups are invited to view works in the art collection by making an appointment for a PrintViewing, and researchers from all over the world visit the CCP to study the vast archives. CCP shares its collection with museums, educators, and publishers internationally through its Rights and Reproductions Department, with loans to exhibitions organized by other institutions and by offering original traveling exhibitions. Collection photographs and archival materials are on view in CCP exhibitions, are available in CCP publications and are loaned to other institutions.

The University of Arizona Library Special Collections houses photographic collections related mainly to Arizona and the Southwest. Arranged by subject and consisting of approximately 65,000 photos, the collection includes images of the University from its inception to the present, extensive materials documenting Tucson history, a complete set of photographs of the William John McGee Expeditions of 1884-1885 and 1885-1886 documenting the Tohono O'Odham and Seri Indians, and photos of Native American groups of the Southwest. A large postcard collection is also located within the photographic collections. Finding aids for these photograph collections are located in the Special Collections reading room.

The AHS photographic archive contains approximately 750,000 images that provide a visual legacy of Arizona history. The photos document such areas as mining, railroads, Native Americans, ranching, military posts, portraits of historic figures, and historic street scenes of places such as Tucson, Bisbee and Tombstone. The collection includes works by C.S. Fly, O.A. Risdon, Forman Hanna and Carleton Watkins.

The Henry and Albert Buehman Collection is the largest single photograph collection, containing more than 250,000 images. From 1875 into the 1950s, the Buehmans operated a photographic studio in Tucson. Their collection includes portraits of many prominent Tucsonans and Native Americans, as well as street scenes, mining, and many other subjects. AHS maintains a photographic card catalog, as well as an online catalog which includes some of their photographic

http://www.ulib.csuohio.edu/portals/harwood.shtml
On November 2002, noted Cleveland attorney and avid Mayan enthusiast Peter Harwood generously donated his major collection of rare and unusual books on ancient Mayan culture to the main library of Cleveland State University. This unique collection, consisting of more than 650 seminal works, along with nearly 200 unpublished scholarly papers concentrating on Mayan art, archaeology, culture, language, and writing, will dramatically increase and enhance the breadth and depth of the library’s current anthropological holdings.
